The reasons The Greens remain a marginal alternative party are:
1. They exclude those not ideologically 'green', so alienation keeps them alienated from the mainstream
2. They do not translate their idealistic ideology into pragmatic shovel-ready policy initiatives with dollar values and immediate costed implementation plans; so they remain perceived as a futurist think tank, not regarded as a real-time alternative executive government.

Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown says Prime Minister Rudd should explain what the end effect of population growth to affect economic prosperity will be. "No world leader can ignore the planet's population burden. There were 3 billion people when Kevin Rudd was born. There are 6.8 billion now. There will be 9 billion by mid-century. This population boom is not economic wisdom, it is a recipe for planetary exhaustion and great human tragedy."
At a press conference about Brown Mountain today (midday on Wednesday 28 January), Greens Senator, Bob Brown, decried the fact that amateurs are doing work which is a Victorian government responsibility, discovering and documenting endangered wildlife at Brown Mountain. Brown also spoke with confidence on the need for an environmental population policy for Australia.
Brown Mountain is "literally teaming with endangered species." "The government and logging industry knows it is one of the most diverse and wildlife rich sites remaining unprotected, but refused to identify these animals before they started cutting down their habitat." Wildlife activists had to prove it themselves.
Please support Bob Brown speaking up for Brown Mountain wildlife and forest by coming to Treasury Place TODAY (Wed 28) for 1pm, where he will hold a press conference about threatened species on Brown Mountain.
Courageous Australian Green Senator, Bob Brown, defies the consensus of oppression and makes history by calling members of the growth-mad Australian parliament to vote for a population policy which would take into account world projections, current resource consumption, climate change, Australia's inability to host exponential population growth, and the well-being of future generations and life on earth.
