In the last three months of 2009 a discussion on Larvatus Prodeo, about the controversy surrounding 9/11, turned into the online equivalent of a lynching. On 28 December at the point at which the intended victim (myself) was able to turn the tables on his tormentors, the moderators abruptly closed the disccussion. I have been barred from contributing to that site ever since, as if I had been blamed for the abuses of others.

In November last year, Richard Gage, who represents 1059 qualified architects and engineers, who are calling for a new investigation of the 'collapses' of the three World Trade Center buildings on 11 September 2001, toured Australia. During the tour, he met and interviewed one of the architects he represents, Jan Utzon, son of the late Jørn Utzon, who designed Australia's iconic Sydney Opera House.

Patty Casazza, Kristen Breitweiser, Mindy Kleinberg and Lorie Van Auken lost their husbands in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. To learn why their husbands died and how a recurrence could be prevented, they forced the Bush adminisration to hold the 9/11 Commission. More than 8 years after 9/11, they have learnt, to their dismay, that all the same excuses for the intelligence failures which led to 9/11 are being made again today in regard to the attempted terrorist attack of 25 December 2009 (12/25). As a consequence, air travellers may soon face further impositions, including health-threatening full body scans whilst those, whose incompetence put air travellers' lives at risk, go unpunished again.

On 26 March 2009 Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd told how the image of the World Trade Center Twin Towers coming down, which he "[could not] remove from [his] mind," made necessary the continuation of Australia's increasingly unpopular intervention in the Afghan war. Perhaps it is time that Kevin Rudd took a proper look at those images so that he could learn what really happened on 11 September 2001.

An International Conference to be held in Sydney will critically examine the three building Collapses in New York on 11 September 2001. The official explanation of the 'collapses' of buildings 1, 2 and 7 of the World Trade Center Complex have been attributed primarily to fire damage causing a "global collapse", which independent scientific research has found an entirely insufficient explanation. On Monday 31 August as the 8th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist atrocity was fast approaching, ABC's Four Corners broadcast a BBC documentary "Conspiracy 7/7 - The London Bombings" which purported to "assess the truth behind the conspiracy theories" behind the London Tube Bombings of 7 July 2005. In fact, it did nothing of the sort. It merely attempted to discredit the whole British 7/7 Truth movement by focusing on a few questionable individuals within it. By broadcasting this rubbish and refusing to broadcast other well-researched material which blows apart the Official 7/7 story, as well as the Official 9/11 story, the ABC has shown itself, far from being biased to the left, to be be little better than another arm of global corporate propaganda.

Today after some toing and froing, I learnt that my submission to the National Human Rights Consultation concerning "National security and terrorism", submitted on Friday 19 June, had been published.

President John F Kennedy once famously cited the words of the ancient Greek Law maker Solon, who decreed it a crime for any citizen to shrink from controversy. Yet many supposedly independent web-sites do precisely that. These include Larvartus Prodeo and Webdiary in regard to the burning controversy over the 9/11 attacks, in spite of the fact that many credible and highly credentialed people question the official account of the September 11 attacks and are calling for a new and proper investigation.

Paul Craig Roberts, who served as served as an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan Administration, is scathingly critical of President Obama's plans to escalate the war in Afghanistan and expand it into Pakistan, whilst taking no effective measures to fix the damage "as great as would be expected from foreign conquest" that the previous Bush administration inflicted on the US economy.

The last thing that Battalion Chief Oreo Palmer expected as he surveyed the dwindling flames on the 78th floor of the World Trade Center South Tower at 9:54am on 11 September 2001 was, seven minutes from then, for the South Tower to come crashing down on him and to collapse almost completely into dust at a rate barely slower than free fall. Many scientists and engineers, who have since disputed the official US Government explanation of the World Trade Center collapses, would have agreed with Palmer's judgement on the day, however the ABC's Science Show, presented by Robyn Williams seems reluctant to let its listeners know of their views.

My request to discuss the September 11 terrrorist attacks on Online Opinion was initially rejected. After I question the reasons for rejection, it was subsequently approved.

However, the discussion was marred by relentless personal attacks and the usual time-consuming debating ploys. These comprise much of the 280 contributions posted thus far to the discussion. In spite of this the forum contains a lot of useful material, and those who are prepared to wade through the forum will find very good contributions and, I believe, will see that the case of the 9/11 Truth movement does withstand the test of argument.

Nevertheless, that is a difficult undertaking for most users. This article is intended to guide users through the maze and to deconstruct the attempts to prevent them from understanding the issues.

The collapse of New York's World Trade Centre on September 11, 2001 is arguably one of the most well documented events in human history. Less well documented is the controversy over why the buildings fell as they did.
